Our commitment
Gresco Group Pty Ltd handles personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles. We do that because arranging funding means disclosing your information to funders, and we would rather be plainly accountable for it than argue about whether a turnover threshold excuses us.
Those principles sit in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). We treat what you tell us about a transaction as confidential commercial information, because that is what it is.
What we collect
We collect only what we need in order to understand a transaction and take it to funders.
- Contact details. Your name, your phone number and, if you give it, your email address.
- Scenario details. The answers you give in the scenario intake on this site: the purpose of the funding, the borrower type, the security type and its location, your estimate of value, any existing debt, the amount, the term, the position and the exit.
- Business details. The ABN of the borrowing entity, and what the funds are for.
- Anything else you choose to tell us in the free text box on the deal sheet, in an email, or on a call — the situation, the timing and how the facility is to be repaid.
We do not ask for sensitive information such as health information, and we ask that you do not send it to us. If you send it anyway, we will decide whether we were entitled to collect it and, if we were not, we will destroy it or de-identify it. If you give us another person's details, such as a co-owner, a guarantor or a director, please make sure you have their permission and let them know we have them.
We do not obtain a credit report at this stage, and we will not obtain one without your written consent. If we ever need one, we will ask you for it in writing first.
We do not ask for — and you should not send us — a date of birth, a driver licence number, passport or visa details, a tax file number, bank account or BSB details, or anything about your citizenship, your residency, your employment, your living situation, your marital status or your credit rating. None of it is needed to arrange business-purpose funding secured against property, and information we have no use for is information we should not be holding.
How we collect it
Usually directly from you: through the deal sheet on this website, by phone, by email, or in a meeting.
Sometimes we receive it from someone else. Where a broker, an accountant or a solicitor refers you to us, we may receive your contact details and a description of the transaction from them before you have spoken to us at all. If that has happened and you would rather we did not hold it, tell us and we will deal with it — the contact details are below.
This website runs no analytics, no advertising pixels and no tracking cookies, and it loads no third party scripts, fonts, embeds or widgets of any kind. Nothing on it builds a profile of you from your visit.
If you do not give it to us
You do not have to give us anything, and no law requires us to collect any of it. You give it to us so that we can act on it. But without a name and a phone number we cannot come back to you or take the transaction anywhere, and without the shape of the transaction there is nothing for a funder to look at. The parts of the deal sheet that are marked as required are required for that reason and no other.
Why we collect it, and who we disclose it to
We collect it so that we can contact you about your enquiry, understand the transaction, structure it, and present it to parties who may fund it.
Gresco Group is not the lender. Arranging funding means passing your information on, so when you send us a transaction you should expect it to be disclosed to:
- Private lenders and funding partners whose appetite fits the transaction.
- Others involved in the transaction — valuers, solicitors, accountants, or a referring broker — where that is needed to progress it.
- Gresco Capital Pty Ltd, a separate sibling company that is neither our parent nor our subsidiary, where a transaction belongs in the mainstream market they handle.
- Anyone you ask us to deal with, and anyone we are required to disclose to by law.
Each of them is a third party that decides for itself what it does with the information, under its own privacy policy. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade contact lists.
Where your information is stored, and when it leaves Australia
Enquiries sent through this site are received and stored for us by our website host, whose systems are in the United States, so your information is disclosed overseas. The host holds it on our behalf and we remain responsible for it.
If you would rather your details did not leave Australia, phone or email us instead. That is a real alternative and not a formality — a transaction that arrives by phone never goes through the form at all.
Marketing
We contact you about the transaction you enquired about. We do not add you to a marketing list without asking, and if we ever send you anything promotional you can tell us to stop — by replying, or by phoning us — and we will.
How we keep it safe, and how long we keep it
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access or disclosure. We keep it only as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it for, or for as long as the law requires us to keep it, and then we take reasonable steps to destroy it or de-identify it.
If something goes wrong with it
If personal information we hold is lost, or accessed or disclosed without authorisation, and that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will assess it, tell you, and notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the law requires.
Getting access to your information, and having it corrected
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is wrong, incomplete or out of date. Phone 0402 292 052 or email thomas@grescogroup.com.au and say which it is.
We will respond within a reasonable period. There is no charge for asking. If there would be any cost in giving you access, we will tell you what it is before we do anything. If we cannot give you access, or we do not agree that something is wrong, we will tell you why in writing and what you can do about it — and if you ask us to, we will attach a note to the record saying that you consider it inaccurate.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, tell us first, using the contact details above. Put it in writing if you can, so that we are working from your words and not ours.
We will acknowledge it, look into what actually happened, and respond to you in writing with what we found, what we are doing about it, and what we are changing so that it does not happen again. We will do that as quickly as we can, and if it is taking us longer than it should we will tell you where it is up to rather than leave you waiting.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your complaint, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. This process is about privacy only, and it is separate from any question about a finance facility.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the business changes. The current version is always the one on this page, and the date it was last updated is shown at the top.
